Viettel IDC is the first cloud provider to achieve a Rated-4 category according to the ANSI/TIA-942-B:2017 standard

Feb 07, 2024
Viettel IDC Becomes The First Cloud Provider in Vietnam to Achieve Rated-4 (Telecommunications Category) in ANSI/TIA-942-B:2017 Constructed Facilities Certification.

Recently, Viettel IDC's Data Center Hòa Lạc 3 has completed the assessment and obtained certification for the construction and operation of one of the world's most reputable data centers: ANSI/TIA-942-B:2017 Rated-3 Constructed Facilities, achieving Rated-4 in the Telecom category. This marks the first time a domestic Vietnamese Data Center has attained a Rated-4.

To attain the ANSI/TIA-942-B:2017 Rated-3 Constructed Facilities certification, all aspects of Viettel IDC's data center, including Architecture/Construction, Electrical System, Cooling/Air Conditioning System, and Telecom/Network System, had to be comprehensively designed, implemented, and tested by top experts. This ensures strict compliance with the world's most rigorous and comprehensive standards and maintains the data center's infrastructure at the highest level of redundancy, security, and readiness.

Viettel IDC's Data Center not only meets all the criteria for ANSI/TIA-942-B Rated-3 but also surpasses many of them, particularly achieving a Rated-4 in the Telecom/Network System category – the highest level in ANSI/TIA-942-B certification. To achieve this Rated-4, besides redundancy and concurrent maintainability, the standard requires an even higher level of specifications. The entire network system is deployed using a 1+1 (2N) model, including two separate entry points into the data center, two cable routes, and two maintenance holes spaced at least 20 meters apart. Two independent entry station rooms must also be designed and installed, ensuring a minimum distance of 20 meters between them. Telecommunication shafts, equipment rooms, and the entire network equipment system are also designed and redundantly backed up with the highest standards.

Viettel IDC's data center underwent an evaluation process involving over 150 requirements, covering aspects such as telecommunications, electrical systems, architecture, and mechanics. This includes architectural planning, electrical infrastructure, safety measures, disaster recovery plans, network/telecom, security, operational management, and environmental control. All data center components were assessed according to operational procedures to minimize risks, and business disruptions, and protect customer data.

The ANSI/TIA-942-B:2017 Rated-3 Constructed Facilities certification is issued by Enterprise Products Integration Pte Ltd (EPI) – the world's number one independent assessment organization for ANSI/TIA-942 certification. This certification focuses on the construction and operation of data centers and is part of the ANSI/TIA-942 standards set forth by the United States Telecommunications Industry Association."

A representative from Viettel IDC shared that building, operating, and managing a data center system to ensure safety is always a top priority because data is considered the heart of businesses. Therefore, continuously assessing and obtaining reputable international certifications for infrastructure and management systems is one of the tangible demonstrations of Viettel IDC's efforts to enhance the quality of its services constantly.

Viettel IDC is a pioneering service provider in the Data Center market in Vietnam, excelling in infrastructure and service quality. The current five data centers of Viettel IDC have a total area of over 35,000m2, providing more than 6,000 racks and meeting stringent requirements for infrastructure, technology, and security for thousands of customers in various sectors such as banking, finance and insurance, securities, information technology and telecommunications, digital content services, e-commerce, and more.

Viettel IDC's Hòa Lạc 3 Data Center is the 6th data center of Viettel IDC, spanning a floor area of 13,000 square meters and providing over 2,500 racks. It is set to commence operations in March of this year. This state-of-the-art facility is Viettel IDC's most modern data center, incorporating advanced, contemporary, and sustainable technologies.

In addition to the ANSI/TIA-942-B:2017 Rated-3 Constructed Facilities certification, Viettel IDC continues to uphold and synchronize various standard systems applied across all Data Centers. These standards include ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 50001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22301, PCI DSS, aiming not only to deliver services with the highest quality and safety but also to work towards the goal of establishing green and sustainable data centers.
